DESHLER ITEMS
    Ling TONG, a Chinaman, has rented John VOGT's vacant store building and will open a laundry next
week.
    Married -- On Tuesday evening, at the residence of the bride, by Rev. BENNETT, Mr. Isaac COLLIER and Mrs. Elizabeth CRATTIE, all of this place. The bride and bridegroom left the same evening for Chicago, returning yesterday and are now 'at home' to their friends.
    A brother of Wm. IMHOFF, a Gelman farmer living a mile northwest of town, wrote from Germany that he wanted to come to this country and asked for directions how to come. Mr. IMHOFF wrote him to come to Mace BAER's. This week he and family arrived and will locate in this vicinity. [Ed. Note: Mr. BAER was a banker in Deshler at this time.]

RIDGEVILLE ITEMS
    Mrs. Noah HAMLIN, formerly a resident of this place, but now of Lorain Co., is here visiting with friends and relatives.
Mrs. WING and Mrs. FIELD returned to their homes last Friday after spending a week at the Corners.
    Mrs. Lucy KIGAR, of Paulding Co., is visiting with her parents the present week.

RIDGEVILLE ITEMS
    John ROOT and wife and baby and Jay FAUVER and wife are in Lorain Co., visiting.
    Mr. Chas. LINDAU, who together with Mr. ROHRS and MARKLEY went to France to buy blooded horses, returned last week bringing some very fine animals with them.
    Ed SHASTEEN, a young man living on the Bryan pike, is lying quite low with heart and kidney trouble. There is but little hope of his recovery.
    There has been some talk of a flouring mill at the Corners. A Mr. EMERY, a practical miller and a mill-wright, has been trying to get assistance to put up one here, but the people are rather slow in coming to his aid so the present prospects are dull.
    On Tuesday morning, Oct. 12, at an early hour, the residence of Henry McDOLE, on the ridge, about two miles north of the Corners, was entirely destroyed by fire, together with most of the contents. There was no one at home at the time. Mr. McDOLE having gone to Spring Hill; Mrs. McDOLE did not like to stay alone so had gone to stay overnight with some of the neighbors.
    Old Mr. DITTMER, an old resident of this township, died very suddenly on last Saturday morning of paralysis. He was about 77 years of age.
    George STRUBLE lost a fine Holstein heifer by a tree falling on it during the storm Thurs.
    J. G. EMERY has been at North Creek the past two weeks superintending the burning of brick and tile for George SELLINGER.
    Mrs. SCHAEFER, of Goshen, IN, is visiting her son, Dr. A. R. SCHAEFER.
    Mrs. David HARMAN and MRS. CROSSLAND have been visiting the past week in MI.

DAMASCUS TOWNSHIP
    Mr. SHELLER has been on the sick list for more than two weeks. There is but little hope of his recovery.
    J. P. SHEPARD has set up the frame for a new dwelling and intends to enclose it this fall Z. KELLER has also the timber on the ground and mechanics at work for a new house.
    Will REID has moved into his new residence.
    Eli CULBERTSON has the timber on the ground and expects to build his new barn this fall.

DAMASCUS TOWNSHIP
    P. March is kept very busy making cider and jell. He tried making sorghum molasses on his new evaporator but failed.
    W. GOOD is the boss sorghum man. His evaporator is kept going late and early.
    Mr. BOWLEIN came very near being caught under a large tree in the storm last Thursday. He was driving home through a neck of woods, when he saw a tree falling across the road. He stopped his team and tried to back, when the body of the tree fell across the road about four feet in front of the horses. A limb came over the wagon which he tried to ward off and had his hand considerably damaged.

SIXTY-EIGHTH REUNION
    The Society of the 68th Regiment, Ohio V.V.I., met at Defiance, Ohio, on Saturday, July 22, 1882. Telegrams were received announcing the illness and inability to attend of both General R. K.     On motion, Major James S. REEVES, Niles, Mich., and Capt. Andrew SCOTT of Defiance county, both members of the 78th O. V. V. I., were made honorary members of the Society of the 68th O. V. V. I. Maj. REEVES was the surgeon of the 78th and promoted to Brigade Surgeon, in which position he became identified with the 68th.
    The regiment formed by companies on Clinton St. in front of the Court House and marched to Latty's Grove near the Union school building, where a grove dinner was prepared for the ex-soldiers and the invited guests. (condensed)
    Letters of regret at not being able to be present and participate in the reunion were received and read from Major General John A. LOGAN, Washington, D. C., and Capt. J. C. RANKS, Cincinnati, Ohio.
